Kakadu Software Licence Agreements
Kakadu Software has now released an updated licence agreement which includes all licence types. The new licence agreement is available for review via the link below and is valid for all new licence purchases or upgrades where software is issued after 1 February 2018 when Kakadu Software Pty Ltd commended issuing licences. The new licence includes a confirmation that you are not associated with an OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control) sanctioned country as specified by the US Department of the Treasury. Please contact email@example.com for the new licence.
The new licence terms have been updated to improve readability and structure but do not effect the licence strategy for any product.
Licence Type Summaries
The evaluation pack is a six month licence intended to provide a company with the complete SDK of Kakadu Software to enable the development of applications. It is expected that this will be converted into a Commercial Licence on confirmation of the value of using Kakadu Software. The licensee cannot derive any financial or commercial benefits from this licence while evaluating the software.
The evaluation pack is for a corporate licence. Evaluation packs are available for Speed Pack on request once a Kakadu Software SDK has been purchased.
This licence is applicable where the licensee will receive commercial and/or financial benefits by developing, distributing or otherwise using applications built from the software. It does not permit re-distribution of the SDK.
Commercial licenses are an annual licence which must be maintained while the SDK is used. The fees vary according to the size of your business. Kakadu software uses the number of employees, contractors and affiliates of the licensee as a proxy for the business size. Please register your details and contact firstname.lastname@example.org for a quote.
This licence is applicable where the licensee wishes to have multiple non-commercial users working with the SDK and they will not receive any commercial and/or financial benefit by developing, distributing or otherwise using applications built from the software. This licence does not permit re-distribution of the SDK. It does allow for the charging of a fee for public services to recover the licence costs.
Public Service licenses are an annual licence which must be maintained while the SDK is used. The fees vary according to the size of your organisation. Kakadu software uses the number of employees, contractors and affiliates of the licensee as a proxy for the business size. Please register your details and contact email@example.com for a quote.
Single Named User Licence:
A Single Named User Licence allows you to use the SDK to build applications for your personal use. It is applicable where the licensee receives no commercial and/or financial benefit. It does not permit you to distribute or use any applications. This licence can only be purchased by individuals for personal, academic or research purposes. Licensees may not gain financially by using this software.
The Single Named User Licence is not for commercial or corporate use. Non-commercial, Single Named User Licences are not available for Speed Pack.
Kakadu Speed Pack Software Commercial Licence Agreement:
Speed Pack is a partially compiled code which encodes and decodes faster than the Kakadu Software SDK. Speed Pack is considered an upgrade to the SDK with specific functionality to improve speed in targeted applications. An organisation must hold a full annual licence to the SDK in order to acquire and use Speed Pack. It is recommended that an evaluation of the SDK be completed before Speed Pack is considered.
Licensing of the Speed Pack is via quotation so please contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss your needs. The commercial Speed Pack licence requires an annual fee based upon forecast application sales and/or installations of the Speed Pack.
